Obituary

Dr. Donald Danforth Perry of Chicago passed away on February 18, 2017 at 9:10 AM due to complications from prostate cancer. He was 65.
Don was born in San Mateo, California on January 12, 1952 to his parents, Marguerite and Richard Perry, and grew up in Burlingame, California, graduating from Burlingame High School in 1970. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in medical physics. He then attended the Northwestern University School of Dentistry, graduating "top honors" with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Don practiced dentistry in Chicago for 35 years. He was nicknamed "Painless Perry" by his staff and patients. For Don, his patients came first. His motto was "health, not wealth."
Don married Lee Ann Raubitschek, his high school sweetheart, on September 8, 1974 at the Saratoga Foothill Club in Saratoga, California. Soon afterwards, they moved to Salzburg, Austria for Don to pursue his study of violin. They eventually moved back to California for Don to continue his education at Berkeley, then to Chicago for dental school, after which they permanently resided in Chicago.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Lee Ann, his siblings Gloria Lane of Modesto, California, Anne McCarthy of Menlo Park, California, his twin brother, Dr. Douglas Perry of Madison, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Alan Perry. Don also had a long and loving relationship with his extended in-law family.
At Don's request, he will be buried in a private graveside ceremony in historic Oak Wood Cemetery.
