Irene Orysia Miakush passed away the evening of Tuesday, January 27 at the age of 75.
Beloved wife of Jerry Ihor; Loving mother of Dan, CFD ( Larissa ) and a devoted grandmother to their children Maksym & Lucas. Dear sister of the late Natalie Huminiak; Fond aunt of Olia Huminiak. Dearest sister-in-law and fond aunt of many in the U.S. and Canada.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 4 - 8 P.M. with a Panachyda ( Ukrainian Prayer Service ) at 7 P.M.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 starting with a Funeral Panachyda at 10:30 A.M. followed by a funeral procession to Sts. Volodymyr & Olha Ukrainian Catholic Church for a 11:00 A.M. Funeral Service.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Irene's memory to the Ukrainian National Museum; 2249 W. Superior Street; Chicago, IL 60612 .
Irene, along with her husband was the former owner/operator of Flowers By Irena ( once located on N. Western Ave. in Chicago's Ukrainian Village neighborhood ).
Irene, through her lifetime involvement with Plast was also a founding member of Spartanky Sorority of Plast Ukrainian Scouting Organization ( Chicago Chapter ) ..... and a member of the Women's Association for the Defense of Four Freedoms .
