Wassyl Kalin passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the age of 80.  Beloved husband of Lubomira; Loving father of Lilianna ( Douglas ) Kalin-Austin and Dr. Andrew Kalin;  Cherished grandfather of Alexander, Ava and Arianna Austin.  Dear cousin of Kathy ( Cary ) Tisch with family and Nicholas Uchyn.  Cherished friend and neighbor of many.    Wassyl was a retired teacher of History as well as Law In American Society at Steinmetz High School in Chicago.  In addition, Wassyl was a Lecturer and Award Recipient for his work with the Ukrainian Genocide Famine Foundation ( founded in Chicago ).  Visitation Friday, February 28'th from 5 - 8 P.M. with a Panachyda ( Ukrainian Prayer Service ) 7 P.M. at chapel.   Funeral Saturday, March 1'st at chapel starting with Prayers at 10:00 A.M. followed by a procession to Sts. Volodymyr & Olha Ukrainian Catholic Church for a 10:30 Funeral Service.  Graveside interment at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery; Chicago.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMANA for facilitating the collection and delivery of medication and medical supplies to Ukraine during this time of crisis.
